The Maze Runner[]

Shortly after Thomas and Teresa arrived in the Glade, the Gladers noticed changes taking place. When Thomas and Minho mapped the new area of the Maze they unlocked using the key from the Griever they killed, they returned to the Glade to find panic. The Maze Doors hadn't closed when they were supposed to, and instead, doors on the three other Walls opened.

As the Glade became darker, the Gladers prepared to hide and protect themselves from the Grievers. The Grievers arrived and attacked anyone they saw. They pulled Gladers out of buildings and crops, killing them and dragging their bodies away.

In the Homestead, Chuck was grabbed through the roof by a Griever. The Gladers with him gripped onto his arms to prevent him from being taken away. Alby stepped forward and started hitting the Griever's limb. The Griever lost its grip on him, and dropped him. Everyone made sure Chuck was okay, but while they were distracted, the Griever tried again. It's limb came through the hole in the roof and grabbed Alby. Nobody was able to save him in time, and the Griever took him away.

The next morning, the Glade residents surveyed the damage. Over fifty percent of the Glade population was killed by the Grievers. This led to Thomas and many of the Gladers taking their chances at escaping the Maze, as they didn't want to risk dying the next night. However, Gally and some of the Gladers chose to remain in the Glade, as they knew it was safe.
