John Michael was one of the first, if not the first, chancellors of WICKED. Beforehand, he was chancellor of the Post-Flares Coalition, from which WICKED came. With his approval, the Flare virus was released to control the population. He was also a friend of Katie McVoy before she committed suicide.
Michael appears in The Fever Code as the Flare-ravaged former WICKED chancellor. After Thomas, Teresa, Alby, and Minho are forced to venture into the Crank pits, Michael appears, holding a small chalkboard reading "WICKED is good." He begs for the kids to help find a cure, and then, per his request, Randall Spilker shoots him.
