John Michael was the first Chancellor of WICKED. Beforehand, he was Chancellor of the Post-Flares Coalition, from which WICKED began from. With his approval, The Flare Virus was released to control the population density. He was a friend of Katie McVoy before she committed suicide after creating the Flare.
Michael appeared in The Fever Code as the Flare-ravaged former WICKED chancellor. After Thomas, Teresa, Minho, and Alby are forced to venture into the Crank Pits, Michael appeared, holding a small chalkboard reading "WICKED is good." He begs for the kids to help find a Cure, and then, prior, from his request, Randall Spilker shot him in the back of the head.
