Newt Day is a holiday celebrated by Maze Runner fans and the community on the 250th day of the year. This is because Newt's death was on page 250 in some copies of The Death Cure book. This day usually falls on September 7th, except during leap years, in which Newt Day will be on September 6th.
To celebrate Newt Day, fans will write one of Newt's many quotes under the hashtag #NewtDay, such as, "Great, we're all bloody inspired", "Please, Tommy, please!" or "Kill me. If you've ever been my friend, kill me." Fans may also put a rock in their shoe to mimic Newt's limp. This is what actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster did to fake Newt's limp in the movie.
Please recall that the book came before the movie, therefore Thomas Brodie-Sangster is not the focus of Newt Day.
The next Newt Day will be on September 7th, 2025.
Trivia[]
- The number 250 now evokes misery and pain in any true Maze Runner fan, regardless of its context.
