- In the hierarchy of the Glade, the Second-in-Command is in charge whenever the leader is not available. There seem to be two instances of teens with the role of Second-in-Command in the books. Newt is the Second-in-Command below Alby, and it seems that Sonya could have the same role within Group B, second to Harriet. This is an interesting coincidence since Newt and Sonya are siblings.
