A few years later, the supreme commander of WICKED, named [[Janson]], ordered them to create two maze structures and abduct various teenagers to be placed within them for phase one of the dreaded trials. The Creators obeyed and forced two teenagers, [[Thomas]] and [[Teresa]], to design the Maze while The Creators themselves constructed the Mazes. The Creators immediately abducted various teenagers and placed them in either Maze depending on their gender(Group A was males, while Group B was females). These teens would eventually form the mighty [[Gladers]]. The Creators placed savage cyborg creatures called [[Grievers]] to attack any Gladers in the Maze at night and small, insectoid robots called Beetle Blades to spy on the Gladers when they were outside the [[Glade]], the center of the Maze and the only place the Grievers could not enter due to stone walls. Two years later, both groups of Gladers finally escaped the mazes that held them for so long. The Grievers tried to stop them, but were deacitvated by a code. Before ultimately escaping, Group A confronted The Creators themselves in a chamber at the end of the escape tunnel, but before they could attack, an arrogant Glader named [[Gally]] emerged with a knife and killed a younger Glader named [[Chuck]], which angered Thomas and he fought Gally. The Creators are a group of agents who were the initial members of the organization WICKED (World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department). They created the Trials in order to stimulate certain patterns in the Killzones of two groups of subjects. They would then use these patterns to work out what it was that made their brains immune to the Flare, and use this knowledge to create a cure. Thomas, Teresa, Aris, and Rachel worked alongside them.
However, the Creators weren't immune to the Flare, and so when there was an outbreak in WICKED, Thomas and Teresa had to kill them all, being the only ones immune. This event was known as the Purge. After this, Thomas and Teresa had to train the founders' successors, including Janson.
