In The Maze Runner Files, Thomas has a memory-dream of himself at five years old, crying to his mother. Thomas' father was yelling and acting violently due to being infected with the Flare, even acting threateningly towards his wife and Thomas with a knife. Finally, Immune people showed up to take him away.
