Wes was a Glader who's name was seen engraved on the wall. His name was not crossed out at the time when Thomas meaning he was alive at the time. He is named after the director Wes Ball. He either died during the Griever attack or if he survived stayed at The Glade with Gally and the others. It is possible that the name on the wall was simply a joke slipped in by the director.
